As a business owner your vision for your success is KEY in order to stay aligned in your everyday marketing actions.

Whether you're working alone, with a coach, or have hired someone to help you with this, that, or the other —your vision = your success.

Here are three important 'vision' paths that I recommend having in your minds eye:

  • Your vision of what success looks like in this current moment. Is it booking another client this month? Is it launching a new retreat for your community? Is it crafting new social media content and actually scheduling it? This looks different for everyone.

  • Your vision of the impact your business and success will have in your people's lives (and the world!). Where does your ripple effect go? Remember you're part of a bigger puzzle.

  • Your vision of the type of content you want to create and share. Is it videos for YouTube? Is it blogs that build your SEO on your website? Is it social media? Doing and sharing content about things that you actually like and enjoy will go a long way in attracting your people.

Having a vision for your business and life make all the difference in your marketing success.

If you've ever chatted with me, you've probably heard me say something along the lines of, "You're the captain of your ship!"

That means you've got to know what's going on now (data), any breaks in your sails (incomplete bridges in your customer journey), and certainly an idea of where you're headed (you're ultimate vision).

Having a vision for your success helps to keep you on track —for your business that might be one thing (think your content plan or local partnership network) and for your life it will likely be another (think having free time for family or holding boundaries to protect your personal time) — having these roadmaps in mind make all the difference in your everyday marketing.

Remember, your vision and even your wants, needs, and goals will all grow, change, and strengthen over time.

Honor changes to your vision and remember that your marketing IS FLEXIBLE (or at least it should be!).

Grow Your Business with these 5 Planning Tips

It's easy to get overwhelmed, feel anxious, and ultimately stay stuck waiting for that perfect moment to launch that one big 'thing'... so instead I want you to reassure yourself in those moments — remember, "I am the captain of my ship!".

As long as you're following your own true North, you will find success (and reach the people who need you most along the way!!).

I want to get specific here for you, because let's be honest... taking action is only possible when we have the information we need to create change. Below are the first five tips I'd give to every business owner and entrepreneur.

  1. Plan content (and everything else!) around what you and your people actually have going on —this helps you stay relevant, engage purposeful 'keywords', and show up when it matters most.

  2. Think about the bigger picture, create content with intention —this helps you grow organically in the sense that you'll be creating things that actually support your business from the bottom up.

  3. Commit to a reasonable creation plan based on what you can actually manage —this helps you avoid burning out yourself or burning through your content ideas; if you can commit to one blog a month, at least 1 email, and a social post a week you're doing a good job (P.S. this base level example is one you can take and grow off of or add more to your starting plan based on what you can do comfortable AND consistently.)

  4. Make sure what you're creating to share you business with the world is in line with what feels good to you —this helps you to stay aligned with your ultimate vision and will make the actual 'doing' side of things so much easier!

  5. Check your data regularly and make smart marketing choices to keep growth steady —this helps you stay in the know of what works by actually looking at what you've been doing already, and it lets you grow future plans based on what is connecting with your people the most. The more you connect to your people, the better!

One other thing to keep in mind as you go forward this week and beyond: the more you practice all of these things, the easier and more natural they will feel to do.

AND... When you're ready to work with a professional, hire a team, or even hire someone to do a one off project like logo or website design —you'll feel more confident and be more likely to see results that make you happy.

Why?

Because the better you are at communicating what you need, want to see, and your overall vision the more effectively others can serve you too. 🙂
