I heard the most delightful, kind words from a client recently and it's something that I want to share because for me —and for you— this type of testimony is one that is inspiring for every single small business owner who is actively working to build and grow their success and impact on the world.
During a synch up session, my client gushed:
"I signed a new project and they were raving about my website! How it was easy to navigate, and gave them everything they needed. They told me that they checked out my competitors, but connected with me the most; I don't know who they checked out, but everything they just kept sharing how it really impacted their choice, especially that it had no dead ends. That's all you! Thank you so much, I couldn't do any of this without you!"
Here's why this is inspiring. This is a real-life person, that exists today, in the same stressors and hardships as every one of us do! AND they love their work, find joy in life, and possibly most importantly are beyond passionate about what they do.
When you're your own boss, you have to take the reigns with purpose and be willing to put in the work for your business.
You're a human, your people are human, they don't expect you to be perfect —and neither should you.
To grow your business, you have to take action!
The #1 biggest roadblock I see today is the disconnect between the direct engagement of owners in their overall strategy and execution of work, especially when you're a solopreneur or a small business owner.
This same roadblock grows for larger businesses, as people are hired to take on more 'stuff' if you remove yourself from that actual engagement, planning, and continuing to hold the vision for their business strategy. After all, when we grow that is not the time to take your foot off the gas, it's the time to take further action.
The client quote I shared above, is a great example of a small business owner who...
Is deeply rooted in their community.
Is happy to put in the work
Makes genuine connections with others. makes sure to follow through with them, and always added them to their email system.
Has tried creating content themselves, but was not able to build these customer journey bridges themselves... Not because they weren't a decent writer, not because they're words were bad, but because they are working from the capacity and knowledge and ability that they have.
They are also thrilled to have direction in their work.
They thrive on purpose behind their actions, especially when it comes to making things for their business.
Can take ideas with grace and fuel their own ideas even more with the right support. (For the example above, this owner had built their own website —they're baby— but we did a total rebuild together to create something more seamless and fully them; that took a lot of trust!)
That thrive in their element and value the guidance of a professional to help get them to the next level of their lives.
The reason I created Bare Marketing is because I genuinely believe that you don't need a lot to have great marketing.
The client I mention above has worked with me for over two years now. They do not have a big team, or a huge technology stack, and definitely not a bucketload of money. (In fact, my average client has a modest budget and we work accordingly.)
Below I'm going to share some more examples of what it looks like to get comprehensive support from someone you trust, while maintaining the overall 'captains chair' of your business —you can see just what is really possible with your own time, energy, and effort... Spoiler alert: It's a lot!

Everyone likes a sweet treat, here's how to translate your level of sweet tooth to working with a marketing professional (like me!):
Some people work with me for weekly marketing sessions where we work through their current happenings, align their strategies with their efforts, and have general idea board time to review content and work together on anything they're stuck on. I call this the little sweet treat.
Clients like this start seeing results like more consistent business, more reach in their content, and a whole lot of good feelings and clarity in their direction. We can all feel good indulging in a modest sweet treat.
Other people work with me bi-weekly (twice monthly) marketings sessions, and instead prefer to work with me in a more in depth manner where I take on a certain level of things like email marketing management, content copywriting, and strategy and planning. I call this the modest sweet treat.
These are clients who are often producing a lot of content themselves and want to make the most of everything they're doing, by unlocking that additional level of support in the form of done-for-you actions, they are able to focus on more of what they love in their business and life.
Then there are people like the real-life client testimony I shared here, where they meet with me once a month for synch up marketing session and align our next months work; they continue to create content, and hand off some content creation and management to me. I call this the big sweet treat.
These are clients who are fully accountable and inspired by our strategy sessions that they go back to their life as focus number 1; they are able to work on things they love most and refer back to our ongoing strategies, assets libraries, customer segments, customer journey touch points, and general marketing world.
At the ultimate luxury of sweetness are the business owners who have all of the above, plus new visual content regularly goes live on their socials, with human written content (hello! you know your copywriter, it's me!) that actually adapts to their voice and brand vibe, and ultimately takes anything they make and built it into something totally new and evergreen in every sense. I call this the ultimate sweet treat.
These are clients who often have a team or other help for specific elements of their business like video editing, administrative support, and sometimes even marketing teams that build out more content based on what we create; in these cases it's not unusual to request me to guide everything along as a whole, support or train their people on specific marketing management, content strategy, or asset development, and even have brought in their team to our sessions for total alignment.
The power of channeling your time, energy, and effort with purpose is truly everything.
"I got a call from an old connection, who I hadn't really heard from in a long time, and they said to me —'Hey! Your social media marketing is working, you do what we need, you want a project?'"
The cherry on top... This quote is a DIFFERENT NEW PROJECT for that same real-life client I introduced to you above. Seriously!
For myself, as a fellow business owner, entrepreneur, and general sharer of knowledge with all of you all, I've found this to be especially true.
The more I channel my time, the more:
fun and play time I have to give back to my little one and family.
free space to think and unwind I find.
enjoyment I discover in my every day work and life!
The more I commit and get specific with how I use my energy (both mental and physical!), the more:
genuine my content becomes.
simply my ideas and voice flow together.
creative I feel.
The more I purposefully follow-through on my action plans with effort, the more:
I find what I create, say, and do connects with my people.
new people are drawn to me.
opportunities and fun find me.
Some people may call it the law of attraction, but it's so much more than that. It's actual action steps that are destined to support growth long-term. So quite literally, you are attracting your best future when you practice intentionally along the way. Doing this has allowed my people to step into new arenas of life, discover new joy, and even new recognitions in their niches.
This can be you. This should be you. I would love for this to be you.
Now, if you're here reading and wondering, 'Gosh I want to be that person, but I'm just not sure if I can make it work...' —let's talk!
