Content is king, and it has been since I first started in marketing back in 2014.
Today, that statement rings more strong than ever before. I want to share a little bit about why this is so you can see the full scope of the power of thoughtful, well planned content.
At the foundation of everything we engage with online —and offline— is content.
Ideas become reality with a little bit of time, energy, and effort... which are all the most valuable assets we have in our personal vault.
When we take the time to create with intention, we are putting something into action that will serve us for weeks, months, and years to come. (Seriously, years.) Let me share with you a real-life example.
One of the most powerful blogs on one of my client's site is one that they wrote when they first started their blog in 2019, they didn't even think much of it; when in reality it drives the most traffic to their website than anything else.
So what do we do?

Well, we've made an observation that's giving us a big green light. It's basically saying directly to us, "Hey, you see these numbers?! Do something else with me!"
First, we want to make sure the client journey is being considered. Since, our ultimate goal is to get more clients, how are we connecting those dots and maintaining that relationship in a way that moves them closer to a decision.
As we start to think about building the bridge between us and our potential people, we want to start considering HOW we we are getting them there. It's not about creating content that is forced sales pitches or just fluffy nonsense that is just popped up to get something up —it's about thinking about your people and where they are in relevance to you and your business.
In today's world, as technology continues to get smarter and more robust, and the amount of content available in the ethers grows more than you or I can imagine... we need to show up in the moments people are asking questions AND when they aren't.
Here's how.
Start to focus on creating content that actually boosts your SEO —that way you are genuinely beginning to connect your business with the world! Plus, my blueprint to make one new piece of content yourself, even if you're not a copywriter. (from blogs, to email, to social media)
Let’s take the pressure off for a minute. You don’t need to be a pro writer here to be successful in creating content for your business. I know a lot of small business owners who were scared to get started, or were finding themselves stuck in the constant loop of imposter syndrome, perfectionism, loss of motivation, or genuine confusion (even overload!) of WHAT to actually focus on and do to take action.
First, let me point out shamelessly here that this is exactly my speciality. So, if you're reading this thinking to yourself gosh darn it, I've really got to get this thing rolling I invite you to connect with me.
You don’t need to crank out 2,000 words. And you definitely don’t need to keyword-stuff a post for it to support your SEO.
What you do need?
A clear purpose.
A relevant topic.
And a structure that makes it easy for people (and search engines) to understand what you’re offering.
Here’s why blogging still matters:
Search engines love fresh, relevant content
Blog posts help your website get found on Google and support your content on platforms like Pinterest and YouTube
A single blog post can be repurposed into emails, social posts, reels, and more
Content that answers questions directly will help you show up in those moments someone is actually searching for an answer to fulfill their need
Still feeling stuck?
Here's my go-to base content structure
Below is an example of a foundation anyone can use for a blog, but honestly it can be applied to almost anything —most closely structured would be social media.
In truth though! IF you set up a blog properly, you'll EASILY be able to utilize it in multiple areas. (Now that's smart content planning!)
Step 1: Choose a clear, relevant topic
Ask yourself: What question do people ask before they’re ready to work with me? What’s a common misconception I can clear up? What do my ideal clients need to understand in order to trust me? What can I share that will actually support my people?
Example Titles:
“How to Choose the Right Interior Designer for Your Remodel”
“What to Expect During Your First Life Coaching Session”
“The Top 3 Mistakes Small Businesses Make on Social Media”
Tip: Write your title using the exact words your clients use in conversations or DMs. (Bonus if you're local and want that traffic, include a location in your title!) When you use the words your people actually use, this is what makes it searchable; these are your keywords.
Step 2: Use a simple structure
Here’s a basic starter format I give my clients all the time:
Intro: Give context. Why does this topic matter? Keep it human, not robotic. One or two paragraphs is perfect.
Main Content (3-5 key points): Use headers, bullet points, or numbered steps. Make it easy to skim and visually clear.
CTA (Call to Action): End with a question, invitation, or gentle suggestion. Examples:
“Have questions about this? Let’s talk.”
“Curious how this applies to your business? Book a call.”
“If this helped, check out [related blog or resource].”
Step 3: Light SEO Optimization
When it comes to SEO and your content, we want to really focus on natural alignment, not necessarily on restrictive rigid rules.
Here’s the basics you'll what to include in your blog asset:
A page title and meta description that includes your topic
Your primary keyword (like “interior design in northern CA”) used 2–3 times naturally
At least one internal link (to another blog, service page, or special offer)
At least one image with descriptive alt text
A short, readable URL (ex: /how-to-choose-a-coach)
Most importantly... keep it helpful, don't get stuck on the idea of perfect.
SEO is a long game. And your blog doesn’t need to “go viral” to make an impact.
Every post is a seed you plant. With consistency and clarity, those seeds help people find you when they need you most.
